December 31, 2016, We have close friends and immediate family arriving to join us on the celebration of the new year coming and my 50th birthday that happens just after midnight. This year is different for me because I will be turning 50. To some people its no big deal for me it has some impact. My dad passed away just after he turned 44. I was 21 at the time wondering if I would live that long, dumb I know!
I wondered what I would accomplish by 44. Now it’s been six years since I turned 44. God has been good me. Last year my close friend renewed me and my wife’s vows after 20 years of Marriage in the presence of our children, closest friends and family in our backyard. Still working for the same company for ten years and still have my health somewhat. Thinking that I have lived a half of a century and witnessed a lot of history that is in my kid’s history books. Seen companies, products, trends, and styles come and go during the last 50 years.
The question is, am I happy? The overall answer is yes. I’m not going to say it has been perfect to this point. Life has been rough through different times. Yes, it can be rough with daily life, health, family, friends or work every day but that does not control my happiness. I have learned things work out. I am not perfect my family, friends and coworkers can verify that. What helps me is that I pray to God every time I need guidance and praise him even when things go bad. Learn from my mistakes. My tips on Marriage: communicate, understand, make compromises, choose your battles, support each other, you are one with your spouse when it comes to finances (this was not easy for me. Check out Dave Ramsey’s stuff), and lift your family in prayer. It has worked for us so far after 20 years of marriage.
My goals for 2017 is to focus on my photography and work on my writing skills. Plan to put a weekly blog out on Sundays. I hope you can join me on my journey and feel free to comment.
I am hoping you all have great 2017!
